QCTO Solar PV Course — Service Technician
Become a qualified solar specialist through our QCTO solar PV course — a nationally recognised NQF Level 5 Occupational Certificate covering installation, commissioning, and maintenance of photovoltaic systems for South Africa’s growing renewable energy sector.
About the QCTO solar PV course
The Solar PV Service Technician Occupational Certificate is a nationally recognised qualification at NQF Level 5 — one level above the other artisan qualifications — accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations. The higher level reflects the technical complexity and growing importance of this occupation in South Africa’s energy transition.
At Phambili Village Campus, this qualification is delivered through our dual system block release model: combining online theory, facilitated campus sessions, hands-on solar PV workshop training, and workplace rotations with industry partners in the renewable energy sector. Learn more about how we teach.
South Africa is in the middle of a profound energy transformation. Eskom’s constraints, rising electricity tariffs, and the growth of independent power producers have created massive demand for qualified Solar PV Service Technicians across residential, commercial, and utility-scale installations.
Graduates of this programme leave with the theoretical understanding, practical skills, and workplace experience needed to install, commission, fault-find, and maintain solar PV systems — and the recognised qualification to back it up.
